About the event
In this class, we celebrate the simplicity, balance, and seasonal beauty that define Japanese cuisine. Each dish on today’s menu reflects the flavors of everyday life in Japan—nourishing, comforting, and crafted with care.
We'll be following the traditional ichiju-sansai style of meal preparation, which includes a comforting soup (ichiju) and three flavorful side dishes (sansai), served alongside rice and pickles. This balanced approach brings together variety and harmony, while embodying the essence of Japanese home cooking (katei ryori).
You'll be guided through essential ingredients and techniques (cooking for about 2.5 hours) and then enjoy the meal together - just like at a Japanese family table.

Ginger pork (shoga yaki)
Simmered aubergine (nasu no nibitashi)
Sesame green beans (ingen no goma ae)
Japanese pickles (kouno mono)
Rice and miso soup
